Its been three months since I left my “secure” job with NYC and I love it. I was programmed (raised) like most people I know, to get that 9-5 job with benefits and stick with it until I have reached retirement. I just want to make clear THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS way of thinking. However, this is NOT the ONLY way! I can say this because this was me. I have been taught that this kind of grind is the only kind and the best kind. I was sucked into this for 10.5 years and although I will never put it down because it has provided for me and my family in many ways, I can look at that experience and learn from it and try something different because IT WONT KILL ME, IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!. (im still preaching this to myself LOL)
I have learned from my husband, who is a successful business owner , that there are more ways to be successful in life. We have to be the ones to recognize within our selves what kind. of potential we have and move toward our aspirations. I have learned that fear is what hold us back. Fear of what if im not successful, what will others think of my decision, fear of no support.
It is so easy to get into the routine of life. So much so that it starts to feel mundane and ordinary. Life is not meant to be lived this way. We have to grab a hold of it and make it meaningful. Meaningful? to some people that might mean going on missions trips and feeding the hungry or clothing the poor. To others it may mean raising a family both are awesome adventures! Your outlook has a lot to do with how exciting you Journey is.
With that said, using your God given talents are probably the best way to make a living and be happy doing so. God given talents are things that you are naturally good at because you were made this way. I truly believe that EVERYONE has something good about them. Something that they are good at and that people want. For example, I know a few amazing bakers who have made a thriving side business doing what they love to do, are passionate about and have FUN doing. Its not their full time yet but they are working to that goal. The end result has to be something that you LOVE.
Every job (even the one you love ) has its struggles, but because you love it the struggle is so much more worth it when you have reached the other side of the struggle.
So live life with passion and love!
